Afterschool STAFF:
Heike Feltes
Heike Feltes is co-director of the BAKS+ afternoon program. She joined BAKS+ teaching staff in 2008. She holds a California teaching credential and a Diploma in Social Work from Cologne, Germany. Heike was the head teacher at Bay Area Kinderstube from 98 - 99. She also teaches at the German School of the East Bay in Oakland since 2005. She is a substitute teacher for the Berkeley USD and currently enrolled in John F. Kennedy University to get her M.A. in Teaching.
Sylvia Klein
Sylvia Klein is co-director of the BAKS+ afternoon program. She joined BAKS+ teaching staff in 2008. She holds a teaching credential for elementary and middle school from Germany. Sylvia has six years teaching experience in Germany. Since 1999 she has been teaching at various programs in the USA. She has been teaching German at the German School of the East Bay in Oakland since 2007 and is also teaching children groups in Walnut Creek for the Goethe Institute.
Marietta Gelfort
Marietta Gelfort joined BAKS+ in January 2009. She holds a degree in Speech Therapy from Germany and is enrolled in the AA Degree Program in Child Development. Marietta has a seven year working experience in Germany supporting children and young adults with Dysgrammatismus and vocabulary deficits. She also teaches at the Goethe Institute San Francisco, BAKS in Albany and works self-employed with children in her Speech-Melody-Formation and Imaginary-Movement classes .
Gabriela Gerlach
Gabriela is new to the BAKS+-team. She teaches the Kindergarten group. Gabriela has a degree in librarianship and got her teaching diploma from the Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks, California in 2004. Her focus during the Waldorf Teacher Training was on kindergarten and foreign languages. Gabriela has been teaching all ages from kindergarten to high school students and adults in various programs in the Bay Area. She is teaching at the German Saturday School in Oakland and one-on-one-courses at the Goethe-Institute.
Barbara Steinbauer
Barbara Steinbauer has been teaching for BAKS+ since 2004. Barbara has a teaching credential for teaching German as a second language and a degree in social work. Before joining BAKS+, Barbara has taught German at various programs and schools in Berlin. Barbara is also teaching at the Goethe Institute and at the San Francisco Waldorf School.
Claudia Winter
Claudia Winter has been teaching for BAKS+ since 2005. Claudia holds a degree in social work and a degree for teaching German as a second language. Before joining BAKS+, Claudia has been teaching at the Marin Saturday School and in various positions in Germany where she was in charge of integrative programs supporting young adults from foreign countries. Besides teaching at BAKS+, Claudia is also teaching at the Goethe Institute.
