ABOUT BAY AREA KINDER STUBE
Bay Area Kinderstube (BAKS) is a German-language immersion preschool for children ages 2 to 5 years. Our mission is to make German language development an integral part of a child's development. The BAKS program stimulates language ability through play and theme-based preschool activities. The language of instruction and interaction with the children is exclusively German.

The preschool program operates year-round, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. BAKS is located in Albany in the San Francisco Bay Area. Visit our website at www.kinderstube.org for more information about the program.

BAKS seeks experienced full-time and part-time teachers to join our staff. We are looking for caring and creative individuals to work with long-term staff in a fun team environment with a low student/teacher ratio.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Native German speaker or proven language mastery (read, write, speak fluently).
• Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field from accredited U.S. college or university required.
• Equivalent degree from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland highly desired. Applicants with only European credentials will be expected to obtain State of California ECE credentials.
• Minimum three years of work experience in preschool setting highly desired.
• Experience in curriculum planning and implementation a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, both in German and English.
• Ability to sing, dance, and/or play musical instrument(s) a plus.

Bay Area Kinderstube
German Language Afterschool Program (BAKS+) is looking for German language teachers for grades 1-8

TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
An individual is eligible to hold the position of Teacher by fulfilling at least one of the following qualifications:

• Is a native speaker of German and holds a teaching credential from a German University
• Is a native speaker of German and holds a teaching credential from an American University

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach a class once a week from 3:30 – 6:00pm
• Provide instructional activities and opportunities that foster German language skills in the areas of understanding, speaking, reading and writing
• Plan and prepare age appropriate activities; provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice according to their age and ability level
• Maintain open and cooperative communication with parents/caregivers and families
• Plan and implement German customs and cultural celebrations that are an accessory part of the program (Martinsfest, Nikolaus, Karneval)
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
